Kelly Layfield started her love for movement as a dancer in your youth. She found joy in the art of moving and noticed when she wasn’t exercising she wasn’t as happy and felt disconnected to her true self. After discovering a Pilates class in College, she noticed it dramatically helped her destress, cope with her own body issues and feel more balanced. After college, she discovered yoga classes and it was then that knew she needed to make it a part of her life and eventually share her passion with others. Completing her RYT–200 with Fluid Yoga School took her practice and teachings to a new level.
With 20 years of experience as a teacher and co–owner of Wheelhouse Mind Studio in Virginia, Kelly loves learning from her students more than anything. She challenges herself and them to be creative in their movement and fide their inner strength. Her philosophy is “It’s not about what your body looks like, it’s about what it can do and how it makes you feel”. When we feel good about ourselves, the rest will follow. She’s found a niche for teaching fusion classes which take in the best of her favorites – Pilates and yoga.
Kelly is excited to share her passion of teaching and connecting students in a non–intimidating environment where they can stop taking themselves so seriously. She truly believes through yoga and Pilates we can become more centered, happy with ourselves and therefore more compassionate to others.
