Aaron Pappas, E-RYT 200, Acro Yoga Teacher and LMT – Aaron’s journey to yoga began in 1996, when a friend showed him a few poses to help relieve stress. Since then his practice and life have evolved dramatically, as the tapestry of yoga has woven its way through his life. From losing over 50 pounds, to quitting smoking, to recovering from substance abuse, the eight limbs of yoga have been like a compass, there to guide him through various stages on his path. During this journey he has witnessed in himself and others the profound transformative effects that come from dedicating one’s body, mind and spirit to the discipline of an extensive yoga practice. He has grown in such positive ways from this practice that he feels it’s his obligation to share it with as many people as possible.
Aaron has been teaching vinyasa and yin yoga since 2008. In the past few years his practice has drawn him to another passion, AcroYoga, which he became certified to teach in August 2012. Aaron is also a certified massage therapist with a primary focus on Thai yoga massage, which he learned during two trips to Thailand.
The main influences for his practice, teaching style and philosophy are taken mainly from Ashtanga yoga as taught by Sri Pattabhi Jois, power yoga as taught by Bryan Kest, Acroyoga as taught by Jenny Sauer-Klein and Jason Nemer, Jivamukti yoga as taught by Sharron Gannon and David Life, Power Vinyasa as taught by Baron Baptiste, Forrest Yoga as taught by Ana Forrest, and Bhakti yoga as taught by Rusty Wells.
Aaron also draws inspiration from nature, music and art, and loves teaching in a way that is challenging, fun and inspiring. Come to his class prepared to learn, sweat and smile.
Dianna Welsh – Dianna began practicing yoga in 2007 as way to rebuild strength after an injury. What started as a way to simply rebuild muscle became a way for Dianna to escape her busy life and find relaxation for 90 minutes a day. She maintained a strict and consistent Bikram yoga practice for nearly two years until she moved to San Diego and found heated vinyasa.
Having been a dancer before her injury, Dianna found the movement of vinyasa comforting and familiar. This, combined with the heat and music, was the perfect mixture for her.
Over the course of a year and a half, Dianna fell more and more in love with what yoga gave her—a space to be alone yet surrounded, challenged yet supported, and most importantly, a space to dive deeper and heal from the inside out.
Dianna completed her 200-hour teacher training in April of 2011 and has been teaching ever since. She has recently completed her degree in neuropsychology at SDSU and is currently pursing her masters in counseling at Sac State
Carolyn Thomas – Carolyn has been teaching Bikram Yoga since 2008. In 2012 she joined forces with Jamie Testa to open Akasha Yoga in Davis. Truly a dedicated practitioner she believes her daily practice keeps her balanced in all aspects of life. She brings this wisdom to her challenging and inspiring classes.
