Teachers LaShone Wilson and Lara Atella

LaraLara is a proud co-director/owner of Hot Yoga Capitol Hill in Washington DC. Lara came to her first Bikram class assuming it would be her last as she was not a fan of heat nor of yoga, but it only took that one class to realize Hot Yoga would be a life-long pursuit and the Capitol Hill studio her second home. Lara became a certified Bikram teacher in 2010 and completed her 200 hour training in vinyasa yoga in 2014. She credits regular practice of yoga with healing her body after suffering for many years with rheumatoid arthritis. Her graduate education and work at Johns Hopkins University and National Institutes of Health in neurobehavioral science help her to appreciate and better understand some of the internal physiological processes of yoga, and she enjoys sharing these things with her students.

LaShone became a Bikram yoga teacher in 2012 after practicing Bikram for over 8 years. LaShone is also trained to teach children’s yoga—including children with ADHD and special needs. She teaches children’s Hatha Yoga and Mindfulness to hundreds of children in the DC public schools. She also teaches children at Hot Yoga Capitol Hill, and other yoga studios and children’s learning centers across the DMV. She completed a separate 200 hour training in Hatha Yoga in the fall of 2014. LaShone is the Founder and Director of One Breath at Time, LLC. The company offers alternative self-care techniques to all with a special emphasis on underserved women and children. LaShone is certified in Reiki Level 1 and has completed extensive training in emotional intelligence.
Her commitment to sharing yoga, mindfulness and self-care was recognized when the DMV voted her as the 2015 NAACP Hometown Champion Award Winner. She organized her first 100 Women’s Empowerment and Wellness Forum in 2015. Soon afterwards, she joined a research team at Children’s National Hospital as a Health and Wellness Coach where she works with parents who have children with severe asthma, stress reduction and mindfulness techniques. LaShone believes that self-regulation, self-awareness, mindful movement, present moment awareness and breath work are the keys to a quality-filled life. She is fully committed to her health and wellness and to the health and wellness of those she has the privilege to teach. She simultaneously stands in her passion and commitment to her work. She has star quality and is adored by students of all ages.
