About the Retreat
This intensive is specifically for current yoga teachers and serious practitioners who are looking to deepen their practice while relaxing and recharging. Set in an environment that caters to personal improvement, participants will be guided through daily yoga practices, moments of self study, and have opportunities to share experiences in order to find a renewed sense of inspiration and dedication. Not only will this retreat give you the space to expand your yoga practice, but you will also have the chance to work with a professional photographer (Brooke Michelle Jackson) who will take both yoga and lifestyle (if you desire) photos throughout the course.
Sunday *flights should arrive by 3pm if possible*
5pm Welcome and Yin/Yang Class
This class will begin with pranayama and meditation before moving into a vinyasa flow. It will finish with longer holds of hip and hamstring opening stretches.
8am Primary Series with Irene
This class will closely resemble the Ashtanga primary series, with a few added poses and transitions thrown in. The Ashtanga series can play an important role in structuring a home practice, and Irene love to use it to sequence some of their classes.
11am Free time for beach / journaling
4pm Inversion Workshop with Irene
This workshop will focus on the foundations of a strong and flexible inversion practice. You will learn many drills both on and off the wall to advance your current practice and help you become more confident teaching inversions to your students. No matter where you are in your inversion practice, this workshop will leave you with useful tips and tricks to implement.
6:30am Sunrise on the beach
7:30am Rocket Yoga practice
This class mixes elements of the different Ashtanga series into one fun and playful vinyasa class.
Noon – Photography session
We will cover the basics of capturing beautiful yoga poses, both in terms of asana and how to use a camera. Photos will also be captured by a professional photographer.
4pm Flow with Irene
This class will be a slower flow focused on hip opening.
7:30pm Evening Activity (TBD)
8am Flow with Irene
This class will be based off of how Irene sequences her own practice.
4-6pm Backbending Workshop
In this workshop Irene will share her tips and tricks for safely deepening back flexibility through strength. We will work on foundational poses such as upward facing dog as well as more advanced variations like scorpion – as well as how to practice and teach them in a safe yet accessible way.
8am Vinyasa class with Irene
This class will blend several styles of vinyasa yoga into one fun and creative flow.
1pm optional Cenote trip or open practice in the afternoon
(Open practice gives you the space to work on your practice at your own pace, under the guidance of a teacher)
Dinner on your own in town
8am Movement with Irene
This class will be an introduction to Ido Portal’s style of movement and teaching, with dynamic and fun drills to challenge you in every way.
10am Brunch and Marketing discussion
4:30pm Yin Flexibility with Irene
In this class we will focus on going deeper into flexibility based poses as well as more restorative yin style poses.
7:30pm Guided Relaxation with Irene
Saturday *flights should leave after 2pm if possible.
8am Bend and Fly with Irene
Enjoy your practice with a light heart in this playful vinyasa flow to combine all of Irene’s favorite elements (like backbends and inversions) into one class.

About the Teachers
I believe that yoga can be a powerful tool for transformation. My journey started in the gym, where I spent several years working out obsessively and counting every calorie. I was convinced that if I could work out enough to have the perfect body, I would be happy. Instead I felt even more lost. In 2012 I found yoga, and though I did not find all of my answers I felt that I was on the right path. When I did my first 200 hour teacher training I didn’t think I would teach right away, I simply wanted to deepen my own practice. But after subbing my very first class I fell in love with the power of sharing this practice with others.
As a lover of movement, I am passionate about my practice. I have studied Ashtanga Yoga, Rocket Yoga, Yoga Nidra, and various styles of Vinyasa Yoga. Being curious about the physical body has also taken me off the mat to study with hand balancers, circus performers, movement artists and contortionists to expand my knowledge and explore the capabilities of my body.
After experiencing a life changing wrist injury I completely redefined my yoga practice in many ways, placing more emphasis on a strong foundation and finding gratitude for my body with or without advanced asana. Don’t get me wrong, I still love intense practice but more importantly I have learned to value being a good person over being good at yoga asana.

Casa Om has 11 beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms, a spacious and well equipped yoga room, swimming pool, a rooftop dining area and 2 kitchens. Bedrooms can set for either single or double occupancy, and have either a private bathroom or a bathroom shared between two rooms. Casa Om also has a new dorm that sleeps up to 6 people in bunk beds.
The rooms at Casa Om are comfortable and beautifully designed with air conditioning and fans. Drinking water and wifi are provided. Casa Om sleeps 26 and is across the street from the beach.
At Casa Om we run a full gourmet vegetarian kitchen. We offer extensive Mexican, Thai, New American, and Lebanese food options. Visitors love our fresh juices and smoothies. All dishes are prepared with a healthy yogic lifestyle in mind. We love to make gluten free and vegan meals as well. Please let us know how we can accommodate any request.
Our head chef, Eduardo “Yayo” Gomez, is a former restaurateur; he brings more than 10 years of professional cooking experience to Casa Om. He is passionate about food and his cooking classes are a favorite amongst our visitors. Those passionate about cuisine will find a like-minded soul.

Optional Excursions (additional fee applies):
The Mexican Riviera is flush with these beautiful underground pools and a trip here isn’t complete without a dip in these refreshing waters. There are multiple cenotes to visit that are much less crowded than those in the Tulum area and only about 30min away by car. Find tranquility below ground or liven you experience with a cenote/zip line combination. Both options are available and booking at least a day in advance is recommended.
Snorkeling & Snuba
The biodiversity on the protect reef in the Mexican Riviera is stunning. Take off for an afternoon when the sun lights up the corals, tropical fish and sponges and search for turtles or reef sharks. Snorkelers can float above it all while scuba divers (no certification needed) can swim down into the tropical traffic. Either option will highlight why this area is protected and turned into a National Marine Park. Yogis can walk to the beach and take a 5 minute stroll to reach the operator. This natural oasis is literally steps from our retreat center.
If you’re a diver there’s twice the opportunity here, you can dive in the coral reefs or, for something a little different, take a cavern or cenote dive. Seasonally the more adventurous (crazy?) yogis can also try a bull shark dive…eek! Tons of diving options await the intrepid.
Akumal Sea Turtle Snorkel
The warm Caribbean waters off of the Mexican Riviera boast sea turtle populations year-round. You can outfit with a dive shop to snorkel with these lovelies or head out with your own gear and see if you get lucky.
The Mayan ruins at Coba is one of the few sites in the Yucatan that is still relatively unrestored. Many of these ancient buildings are the same as when they were rediscovered in 1890. The beautiful location is less hectic and touristy than other Mayan sites and is certainly worth the day trip.
Playa Del Carmen Take a shopping trip, have a great meal, or just enjoy people watching on a trip to Playa del Carmen. This is a fun tourist spot where you can shop for anything from cheap souvenirs to boutique items.
