About the Retreat

Join us for a week of hot yoga to recharge, relax and have fun!
This is an amazing experience not to be missed!
6 days with daily yoga classes, morning and afternoon, activity, fresh food, sun, sea & Vitamin D! There will focus on alignment and technique, deepen your practice and understanding while at the same time have a lot of fun! This is a week to invest in yourself – through yoga practice, meditation, meet new friends, time to relax and recharge and let go of all the ‘must do’ things from everyday life.
The beach is just across the street from where we stay and we have plenty of time for free time too!

About the Teachers

Annika started practising yoga in 2001. Having tried most different styles it was when she stepped up the physical practice she quickly started realising all the amazing benefits that came with it! She went through some really stressful times while excelling her career in London within Finance, working long hours, studying at the same time, family, socialising, working out and much more, that she’s quite certain it the physical yoga practise that helped her stay steady and keep going. ‘It helped me find a balance, to de stress and find mental clarity’ in other words ‘Survive’. This is when she decided to change her life and gave up work and studies to go and become a yoga teacher. Yoga today is so much more than just a physical exercise.

Annika believes the best teacher is the one who is forever a student of yoga and of life. Her mission is to inspire and spread the physical practise of yoga as a stepping stone to healing and improving everyone’s state of health, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. Annika is qualified in and teaches Bikram yoga, Earth Yoga, Vinyasa yoga, Partner Yoga, Yin yoga and Yoga Nidra and owns 2 Hot Yoga Studios in the south of Sweden – hotyogahouse.se

While at a New Years Eve party Sussie and her friends got ‘tricked’ to try Bikram yoga. 2nd of January all of them went and tried a 90 minute class. Those 90 minutes felt like 300 minutes! All of them agreed that it was awful and if someone would have asked her there and then if she and her friends would continue they were all agreeing: NEVER AGAIN!

But…the feeling afterwards was just amazing and Sussie decided to buy an Intro card. Quickly she felt stronger and after only about 5-10 classes started to feel good during class too, not just afterwards! Sussie was hooked. From that day she went on to practise a hot yoga class every single day and she still does! Not only Bikramyoga – she loves all yoga as long as its in a hot room. You get stronger, more flexible, calm, happy, healthy… Everything improves!

After a few years of taking classes in the Hot Room almost every day Sussie decided to change her life situation and went off to do herTeacher Training in New York. She quit her job as marketing director at a publishing company where Sussie had been working for 16 years! She still doesn’t regret that choice.

Today Sussie is the studio manager at Hot Yoga House and teaches Bikram yoga, Earth yoga and kids yoga. Sussie has also completed a Teacher Training for Yin Yoga but she loves teaching all the active hot classes so much so at the moment she does not teach Yin yoga.

Sussie’s way of looking at yoga is that while doing postures in a hot room you get so calm, relaxed and happy and that makes you so much more kind to yourself and to other people. As a bonus you also get strong and flexible!

Accomodation

Casa Om has 11 beautiful bedrooms and bathrooms, a spacious and well equipped yoga room, swimming pool, a rooftop dining area and 2 kitchens. Bedrooms can set for either single or double occupancy, and have either a private bathroom or a bathroom shared between two rooms. Casa Om also has a new dorm that sleeps up to 6 people in bunk beds.

The rooms at Casa Om are comfortable and beautifully designed with air conditioning and fans. Drinking water and wifi are provided. Casa Om sleeps 26 and is across the street from the beach.

Cuisine

At Casa Om we run a full gourmet vegetarian kitchen. We offer extensive Mexican, Thai, New American, and Lebanese food options. Visitors love our fresh juices and superfood smoothies. All dishes are prepared with a healthy yogic lifestyle in mind. We love to make gluten free and vegan meals as well.

We will include breakfast each morning and dinner 4 nights out of the 6 you are with us. The other nights we will venture out into town.

Our head chef, Eduardo, is a former restaurateur; he brings more than 10 years of professional cooking experience to Casa Om. He is passionate about food and his cooking classes are a favorite amongst our visitors. Those passionate about cuisine will find a like-minded soul.

Travel

Fly into CUN – Cancun Airport.

We will pick you up from the airport and take you 20 minutes south to the beautiful town of Puerto Morelos on the white sandy beaches of the Mexican Riviera.

We are located at 9 mza 26 sm 02 avenue javier rojo gomez, Puerto Morelos, Quintana Roo, Mexico.

Cenotes
The Mexican Riviera is flush with these beautiful underground pools and a trip here isn’t complete without a dip in these refreshing waters. There are multiple cenotes to visit that are much less crowded than those in the Tulum area and only about 30min away by car. Find tranquility below ground or liven you experience with a cenote/zip line combination. Both options are available and booking at least a day in advance is recommended.

Snorkeling & Snuba
The biodiversity on the protect reef in the Mexican Riviera is stunning. Take off for an afternoon when the sun lights up the corals, tropical fish and sponges and search for turtles or reef sharks. Snorkelers can float above it all while scuba divers (no certification needed) can swim down into the tropical traffic. Either option will highlight why this area is protected and turned into a National Marine Park. Yogis can walk to the beach and take a 5 minute stroll to reach the operator. This natural oasis is literally steps from our retreat center.

Scuba
If you’re a diver there’s twice the opportunity here, you can dive in the coral reefs or, for something a little different, take a cavern or cenote dive. Seasonally the more adventurous (crazy?) yogis can also try a bull shark dive…eek! Tons of diving options await the intrepid.

Akumal Sea Turtle Snorkel
The warm Caribbean waters off of the Mexican Riviera boast sea turtle populations year-round. You can outfit with a dive shop to snorkel with these lovelies or head out with your own gear and see if you get lucky.

Coba Ruins
The Mayan ruins at Coba is one of the few sites in the Yucatan that is still relatively unrestored. Many of these ancient buildings are the same as when they were rediscovered in 1890. The beautiful location is less hectic and touristy than other Mayan sites and is certainly worth the day trip.

Playa Del Carmen Take a shopping trip, have a great meal, or just enjoy people watching on a trip to Playa del Carmen. This is a fun tourist spot where you can shop for anything from cheap souvenirs to boutique items.
